Alzheimer’s strikes the Disc World

Terry Pratchett, a famous English author responsible for creating the Disc World, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year. I watched the documentary Pratchett and Alzheimer’s yesterday and begun to ponder, whether people with Alzheimer’s are diagnosed earlier in the UK than in Finland. The documentary showed several people with only “mild” problems caused by Alzheimer’s where as in my job I see even relatively young people being diagnosed very late, when it’s already impossible to manage home alone.

Before I dig into that, have a look at the Guardian’s interview with Terry Pratchett about his Alzheimer’s: There’s humour in the darkest places.
